What is an Optimist?

Life experiences create ways of thinking and ways of seeing things. Optimism is an ‘attitude’ characterized by ‘hope’. Optimists expect things to ‘turn out well’ because they believe they have the ‘skill and ability’ to ‘align with the Mission’ and make ‘good things happen’.

  • Sauk Trails Mission

Our Sauk Trails Madison Optimist Club was created over 25 years ago by a group of thoughtful, hardworking men and women. Throughout the years these men and women, and their successors - have met regularly to support and assist the youth of our community through a wide range of events, activities, donations and charitable work.

Our Club has sponsored and supported a Spartan Youth Service – Junior Optimist Internation -JOI Team of over 125 youth. This school youth group has provided community service for many years. This year over 100 kids at the Lussier Center in Madison will enjoy a Christmas Gift/Party. Scholarships are provided annually, Respect for Law programs honor West Madison officers, annual participation in Oratorical & Essay Contests, Optimists volunteering and supporting Bratfest, Way Forward, Meals on Wheels, Mustard Museum, and other programs. Grants are also provided to Youth ‘sponsored’ programs who have presented at our lunches, with many other programs and social events made available.
